Reader Steve Payne sent us some vintage BC sand drag photos from the 80′s. Steve has informed me that sand drag racing is alive and well on Vancouver Island! The Island Off Road Racing Association , based in Port Alberni, not only hosts sand drags, but wheel to wheel racing, obstacle, team relay and single lane timed mud racing! Thanks for the photos Steve! Since I recognize a few of the vehicles, they have brought back some great memories.
By the way, Steve is looking for a 66-77 sand drag Ford Bronco. If you know of one that may be for sale, please contact me and I will pass the information on to Steve. It does not have to be complete or running.
